Interview with Battalion (February 2010)

Hi, first off all I just want to congratulate you with your album ‘Underdogs’. In my humble opinion - a fucking great one. But how do you feel about it?

Same opinion! And we’re fucking glad that you like it out there in Denmark.

How did you get your name Battalion?

We took it out of Saxon-song. But I don’t tell ya’ which one! ;-) P.S. Saxon is one of our biggest idols...

How would you describe your music to any of our readers who may not have heard of you before?

Put our CD into your player and your girlfriends clothes will fall off quickly!!!

Who has produced and mixed ‘Underdogs’?

Produced by us and Tommy Vetterli

Mixed by Tommy Vetterli – The Ex-Coroner-Baron, you might know him! ;-)

My favourite tracks could very well be “Thrash Maniacs” or “Bullets & Death”. Are there any songs on the album that are special to you?

Stalingrad – Every time we hear it, we hear it in a new way again – Sad but true story...

How long do you need to practice to feel comfortable with your songs before you record them?

It’s different: Sometimes 1 day, sometimes light-years ;-)

What tasks presently lie ahead for Battalion?

GIGS, GIGS, GIGS and make new songs!

Let's speculate - you have been granted a free slot on a tour of your own choice - who would be your ideal touring partners?

What albums or bands do you believe have had the greatest impact on the history of Metal?

Metallica, Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Saxon, Judas Priest, Testament, Exodus and since 2010: Battalion ;-)

Looking ahead, where do you want to be five years from now?

On the biggest stages on this planet, supported by AC/DC!!! ;-) hahahaha...

I thank you very much for participating in this interview and sharing this information and your thoughts with us - these last lines are entirely for you. Any final words you would like to round off with - a tip, a recommendation or a thought for the future?
