“Underworld”
is the fifth album (incl. One EP) from Sweden's The Storyteller. L-G Persson (Vocals) and Fredrik Groth (Guitar)
formed the band back in 1995 as an acoustic band; well The Storyteller
has come a long way since that day. “Underworld”
sounds very similar to the “Tales of a Holy Quest” CD that was
released in 2003, heavy/power metal somewhere between Falconer and
Morifade. What really stand out on “Underworld” are the great
medieval/epic parts, and the melodic vocal lines. Tracks
like “Changeling”, “Watcher in the Deep” and “Shine On” is
all small masterpieces in the epic/power metal genre, the rest of the
album is also great, but it is more straightforward power metal except
for the beautiful acoustic track “Your Time has come”. The
only downside on “Underworld” is the cover version of Motörhead’s
“Ace of Spades”; I have never and will never be a Motörhead fan. Recommended tracks: “Changeling”, “Watcher
in the Deep” & “Shine On”. |
