On
“Numbers from the Beast” we are treated with 11 Iron Maiden tracks,
by such great names as Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Alex Skolnick (Testament),
Jon Bush (Anthrax/Armored Saint), Joe Lynn Turner (Deep Purple/Rainbow),
Ripper Owens (Judas Priest/Iced Earth) and Mark Slaughter (Slaughter)
among others. Some
of the tunes on “Numbers from the Beast” are actually pretty good,
like “Wasted Years” sung by Dee Snider, “Flight of Icarus” with
Ripper Owens, “Can I Play with Madness” with a superb Mark Slaughter
and “The Wickerman” with such great names as Jon Bush, Jeff Duncan
and Scott Ian. Tracks
like “Wrathchild” sung by former Iron Maiden man Paul Di’Anno, (I’m
sorry to say this, but Paul please retire before you make a complete ass
out of yourself), “Fear of the Dark” growled by Chuck Billy of
Testament and “The Trooper” “sung” by Lemmy are a complete waste
of time. But
all in all this is a great tribute album. Recommended
tracks: “Wasted Years”, "Flight of Icarus” & “Can I
Play with Madness”. |
