Some
of you out there remember a German band called Mad Max, right? And what about albums like “Mad Max 1”,
“Rollin’ Thunder” and “Stormchild”…. remember them? We
haven’t heard much from Mad Max
since an album called “Never say never” from 1999, but guess who is
back? Yes…Mad Max is back! In
January we are in for a Melodic Hard Rock treat, because Mad Max is about to release their brand new offering called,
“Night of white rock”. But is this album any good? – Yes…In my
humble opinion, of course! Already
the opening “To Hell and Back Again” shows impressively that the
gentlemen are able to combine crunchy guitars with brilliant melodies in
a quality that make you shake your head in wonder. The following
“Losing it again” is finest melodic steel again, before track 3
“Hope to See You” knocks you off your feet with one of the best
Melodic Hard Rock songs I’ve ever heard. A brilliant Melodic-hammer,
not more and not less! Everything fits here, from the structure to the
great and very memorable chorus. One of the very best songs this genre
ever has spawned. Add
to that the excellent voice of Michael Voss, what could you hope for
more? So,
friends of good Melodic-stuff! This is a truly interesting CD to be
discovered. “Night of White Rock” contains 11 songs and comes with a
very good and crystal clear production. So, check this album out when it
hit the stores in January. Thanks
to Birgitt Schwanke from GerMusica Promotion for sending me this
promo-CD. Killer
cuts: “To Hell and Back Again”, “Losing it again”
and “Hope to See You”. |
