My
favourite Doom / Stoner Rock band Cathedral is back with a brand new
album called “The Garden of Unearthly Delights”, and I can promise
all Cathedral fans out there that it’s a great one… at least in my
humble opinion! What
we have here is an album filled with catchy rhythms and great hooks
without losing the HEAVY and groovy edge to the music. These British
musicians know how to make “original” groovy Doom/Stoner rock and
here on “The Garden of Unearthly Delights”, Cathedral proofs that
they have never lost their way. Cathedral
still sounds like… CATHEDRAL… a mixture of ultra heavy passages
and groovy and faster parts. One big surprise is to be found here on
this album… track 9, “The Garden”. It’s a 27 minute epic with
changes of pace and styles, with violins and female vocals... one hell
of a track. Closing
"song", "Proga-Europa" (a hidden track), is
nothing but five minutes of silence followed by about a minute of
additional music… a waste of time if you ask me! “The
