One of the debut albums I enjoyed the most this year is this 'Rise of the Legend'. Not because this 5-piece has invented something new, but because of the moving songs and melodies. The members are already known from bands like Coronatus, Abraxas, Stormwitch and Thunderbold and you can surely hear the experience.

For me this is one of the best newcomers this year. They use heavy riffs, but never forget to put a lot of melody in the songs. On top of that vocalist Selin Schönbeck has an excellent voice for the power metal genre. Not only is his voice very powerful with a rougher edge, but also in the melodic parts he shines. The first band that enters my mind when I am listening to the songs is Brainstorm. There are a lot of similarities with this German power metal band. The voice of Selin is rather similar to that of Andy B. Frank (Brainstorm), in fact they could be brothers. On top of that, the sound of the guitar riffs and the combination of heavy parts with melody is about the same. What makes We Are Legend different is that several songs sound happier and less dark. Another nice variety is the use of several piano parts. With this addition the band sometimes reminds me of Savatage and Circle II Circle. Especially a track like "God is Dreaming" sounds in the first minute like a Circle II Circle song.

If you want to hear music that consists of 70 percent Brainstorm and the other 30 of Savatage, Circle II Circle and Queen (some choir harmonies), you should really check this out!
