Much surprisingly, as listening to Vreid's Welcome Farewell, I find myself appreciating old school thrash metal, 80's style. What's happening?

This is not the Vreid I got to know from their debuts in 2004 but it's OK. Back then the band was clearly marked by the "Windir style", not that this was a bad thing in itself.

However, the band has matured in another direction after nearly ten years of activity and extensive touring. One still can hear riffs in minor chords that  will give you goose flesh, but the style is overall definitely unique by its combination of old-metal techniques in the spirit of Western branch of Norwegian black metal.

Welcome farewell is to recommend to all who can't chose their favourite between Iron Maiden and Immortal.

If you are able to catch these ones live too don't hesitate, they have some seriously good stuff to give to the metal world.
