2013 kick's off with a magnificent debut album from Karlskoga, Sweden. Edge is a new melodic rock/AOR project with big harmonies and stunning melodies. Escape Music must be very satisfied with this signing, because this band can with the right backup and management go all the way.

The two friends Jonas Forss and Tobias Andersson started about two years ago with the idea for a song and the special magic was immediately there. The time has elapsed and they have created the nice product. 'Heaven Knows' which opens with 'Little Girl'. The guitars are strong and clear and the vocal is great. Scandinavian melodic hard rock is the genre where Edge is fitting, no doubt about it! 'How Long' is next track and I heard immediately that Mr. magic himself 'Tommy Denander' has contribute with his guitar on this song. The flawless production and the brilliant balanced and easy going songs as in 'Nowhere to Hide' is very nice to listen to.

Jonas Forss is doing the vocals and he does it quite well, but I feel that it gets a little toothless sometimes. More power wouldn't hurt in the choruses. I like the ballad 'Get Over It' with strong singing and emotional lyrics. The genre typical song 'I Believe in Love' is moderately soft with a lot of Bon Jovi influences. 'There is no Other Way' has a great intro and some nice riffs, but is a filler track somehow. I can't stop my leg to bounce when 'I Could Never Live' spins. A nice and rhythmic song with nice riffs. 'Right Now' is a classic AOR song and is one of the best songs on the album. The misleading song title 'To Hell And Back' is not nearly as hard or tough as it seems.

It is actually a pretty tame story that might have had a little more attitude and leather on the nose to keep the previous songs standards of quality. In 'Through That Door' does it get little rougher and it turns out to a quite OK track in the end. A quite pale track is closing the album and my overall impression is this: An interesting debut which is very promising and something to keep the eyes to in the future.

Very talented song writers and musicians that will improve with right back-up and support!!
