With two earlier albums in their bag, the Swiss power metal band Pertness catapults their third release into the metal world. The second album 'From the Beginning to the End' was heavily influenced by bands like Grave Digger, Blind Guardian, Hammerfall and Sabaton. The power metal had some folk influences and they continue with this on this album.

The biggest difference is that the album is heavier than the two first ones. A band like Mystic Prophecy can easily be added to their influences. Besides that the music has a more modern sound too. Tom Schluchter uses his aggressive vocals more and the guitars are tuned a bit lower. The balance between the heavy power metal and folk is also better. Listen for example to the second track "My Will is Broken", it sounds more mature and less forced. Variety enough on this album, fast heavy tracks like "Frozen Time", "Farewell to the Past", "Cold Wind of Death" and "The Eye of the Storm" are varied by softer folk influenced metal tracks like "No More Messiah" and "Lost in Time". The last track on the album is a real folk song, it reminds me of In Extremo and the pirate band Alestorm.

The music on the album has the heaviness of Mystic Prophecy, breaths the atmosphere of Blind Guardian and that all covered with folk influences. Bands usually say that their last album is their best so far, this time I agree!
