Judging on some pics Linnea Landstedt – the founder of the band, guitar player and vocalist of TYRANEX has a tender female voice. But no one has ever heard it. She can easily crack your lens or your bottle of beer.

When the band is formed at the end of 2005 the Swedish bow to the 80’es heavy metal. They started to release demos every year. As a sound their music started to become harder. They pass through the usual changes in the line up. Even just before the release of the full length release TYRANEX parted good friends with their second guitar player. While you are listening to “Extermination Has Begun” they are trio.

The fast and dynamic songs absorbed much from the atmosphere of VENOM. But the connection with the classic heavy metal from JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN type is not lost especially in the solos. The aggressive screams and the powerful shrieking of Linnea are moving somewhere on the road between Rob Halford and the early Tom Araya! The dirty guitar riff is enriched with melodic solos. The things often touch the SLAYER’s “Show No Mercy”. The early thrash, the non-commercial heavy metal and the VENOM-like black metal have 9 rounds in this beginning of the beginnings.

Having in mind that I am used to hear precise and sterile Swedish music compositions I could say that TYRANEX indeed have recorded their album in the veins of the 80’es. The rhythm section suffers from the cutting of the low frequencies. A typical Jackson guitar blend dominates. It seems that Inferno Records start to create vogue in this sound style. But in my opinion a little bit more bass and drum case would emphasize the merits of the band. Classic and dirty, heavy and thrash – this is the metal that the Swedish debut offers.
