The Eyes of a Traitor is the typical thrash-core, death-core or metal-core band in my book. About 5 years ago I was quite interested in that kind of metal but now I have it up to here with most bands in this genre. But well... this band surprise me with this album called 'Breathless' that is complex yet still quite straight forward. They sound quite tight to me and the songs sound thought through. The harsh vocals are bit monotonous in the long run but fans of this genre will dig it, I'm sure. A song like “Your Old Ways” with its catchy chorus but not sappy in any way is the best example of what modern metal bands can come up with if they put their minds into it. With interesting guitar runs and great drumming... and as written above, a catchy chorus they have a winner. Well... most of the songs are okay to me, but I'm sure that all you “Core-Freaks” out there will dig this album. So check it out if you're a genre fan. | ||||||||||||||||||
