The American rockband Talon is based in California and they don't sound like a band based in the soil in the American West Coast and even if they marked III, like as they say themself, it got wibes to an"AOR feeling", I don't agree with that, because it's more like an simpler and straighter hard rock. I don't find the energy or the fire in the band and their technical standard is nothing to boast about and I've heard this kind of bands before and I'll tell you what I think of Talon's album 'III'.

"Crying To Me" is the first track and is a plain and solid rock song with the regular catchy guitar riffs and high castrato singing in the chouruses. In the next song "The Last Time", I wanted to crank up the tempo a few turns, because it felt that the song was about to die. The production so far is weak and feels hollow, so when the intro to the song "Did You Have To Say" I hoped that I was wrong, but the singer rescues it in the end a rather worthless song turns into an acceptable level and you can add that it has a really good guitar solo in that song.

I'm waiting for the song that would give me a reason to buy this piece of art in the shop, but my expectations are in vain. Then comes the song where they have borrowed the heavyweight Jeff Scott Soto, who raised the track "Take You All The Way" to higher levels. The closing song "Jane" doesn't it sound like one of Aldo Nova's songs? I may be wrong, but it's actually one of the better songs on 'III'.

I had higher expectations for Talon's album and of course there are moments where the guitars make me smile, but overall ratings finally is a so-so effort. It has a damn nice cover anyway. There are much better records this fall to use your money on.

Best songs: "Crying To Me", "Take You All The Way", "Brothers" and "Jane".
