Revolution Renaissance is the band of former Stratovarius guitarist Timo Tolkki. After the album 'Age of Aquarius' they signed a 3 album deal with Napalm Records and 'Trinity' is the first one. Many stories and incidents (true or false?) have been wondering around on the internet and in the magazines about Timo and Stratovarius, but what counts for me is the music.

Timo was responsible for the biggest part of the song writing when he was a part of Stratovarius and he wrote lots of songs that made the band very popular. But can he achieve the same commercial success with this band is the question, but I can assure you that fans of Stratovarius will like this album. On the album he wrote powerful songs sometimes on high speed, but also more epic tracks. Timo didn't make the mistake to write tracks with too many guitar solo parts to show how good he is. He wrote songs with team spirit, not just for his ego.

Some might find Gus Monsanto not the best singer in the genre, he has a kind of nasal sound, but it doesn't irritate me much, I can live with that. The production is o.k., and there is enough variety in the songs.

Timo found capable musicians to make this an album that can easily compete with other power metal releases. Fans of power metal and of course Stratovarius can make a swing a get a strike.
