"After the Rain" is the album Nelson always will be measured up against, and the album that set off the three year Nelsonmania that swept across the US from 1990. Many a teenage girl had a poster of Matthew and Gunnar Nelson hanging on the wall in their room, and not many guys would admit to liking them...

"Before the Rain" is a musical documentary of the time before the mania took off, and a chance to hear some of the songs that made A & R legend John Kalodner and Geffen Records sign them. The eighteen songs show a lot of promise; sort of a diamond in the rough. And as we all know the gem was cut right, and Nelson hit musical scene like a bomb. They were at the right place, at the right moment.

Nelson will always be a band that you either hate or love, and this retrospect is hardly interesting for today's melodic rock fans and will only appeal to die-hard fans that simply has to have everything they've ever put out.
