Distaste / Bastard Peels
Distaste vs Bastard Peels
Rating
  (Distaste)
  (Bastard Peel)
Style: Grindcore
Release date: March 21st 2010

A Split-CD of pure demolishing grindcore. Strange enough there was only info about the band Distaste and hardly anything about Bastard Peels added to the digital promo-stuff. Perhaps there is a certain preference? Both bands hail from Austria and I'm certain they make the local underground scene very happy with their tunes.

Distaste is the one I like the best. They use low riffs, a kind of Entombed style, but than much faster. This makes their songs easier for me to listen to than the ones played by Bastard Peels. The production of the Distaste songs is also much better. Bastard Peels is definitely more underground grindcore, with guttural vocals, pig squeals and a very chaotic structure. Definitely not the music I listen to at home. It sounds more underground and the production is more the one you would expect on a first demo, just listen to the hollow drum sound.

Readers should consider that I'm not a fan of the genre; real grinders will appreciate this stuff more...
