The German thrash ’n’ roll band TORMENT is about to release a brand new album called ‘Tormentizer’ to celebrate the band’s 25 anniversary. 25 years? I don’t think I have ever heard of this band before?

Well... ‘Tormentizer’ opens with the title-track ‘Tormentizer’ which sounds like a mix of early SODOM and MOTÖRHEAD on speed... a quite good track in my opinion but they have a hard time to keep up the level on the rest of the album. Not that the rest of the songs are bad, but TORMENT leans too much towards “punk metal” on most of the songs... and punk/hard-core is not really my cup of tea.

The mid-tempo metal track “Stalker” is an exception. This track could easily have been written by MOTÖRHEAD for their ‘Orgasmatron’ album and it’s quite enjoyable with its catchy riff.

‘Tormentizer’ is an okay album but far from great but a few tracks wins a little with every spin but they haven’t found a new fan in me.

Check it out...
