Zimmers Hole
When You Were Shouting at the Devil.....
Rating
Style: Humorous Thrash/Speed Metal
Release date: March 11th 2008

The Canadian humorous Thrash/Speed metal quartet Zimmers Hole has released their third record. The side-project from Byron Shoud (bass), Jed Simon (guitars) both from Strapping Young Lad and vocalist Chris Valageo (provides backing vocals on almost every Devin Townsend solo release) has found drum-monster Gene Hoglan to complete the line-up. What started as a joke has become more and more a serious business.

The lyrics and the song titles still make you smile and are fortunately not all too serious. But the music is getting better with each record. A lot of bands nowadays don't come with such good heavy thrash/speed songs. You can hear that the gentlemen are very experienced musicians and they know how to write an interesting song. They start with the poser against the real metal maniac song: "When You Were Shouting at the Devil...We Were In League with Satan", which of course is a parody on two well known metal albums. Expect heavy riffs, with thundering and tight drums and low aggressive vocals.

A lot of music styles come along, for example in the song "Fista Corps", they make a joke about the grindcore style. Just read the lyrics and you know what I mean. If you want a good thrash/speed record and like lyrics with a big blink towards the metal scene, check this out!
