Virgin Steele
Life among the Ruins
Rating
Style: Traditional Power Metal
Release date: October 31st 2008

Virgin Steele will be re-releasing their albums 'Life among the Ruins', and both 'The Marriage of Heaven and Hell' albums. This one was originally released back in 1993 and all three albums contain bonus tracks and the new booklets containing many photos, and liner notes.

The voice of David Defeis has always sounded like Eric Adams, although I must admit that in the earlier stages of Virgin Steele he did sound a lot like Bruce Dickinson as well. The band name Virgin Steele is in fact synonymous to Iron Maiden; I am almost certain that's the reason why the band took the name.

Already back in 1993 their music could be described as traditional metal and that hasn't changed. With influences from Iron Maiden and Manowar, but more dramatically. I am always a little sceptic about re-releases, because real fans already have the album and I wonder if they will conquer new fans with it. Also the bonus tracks, which are acoustic live rehearsals are not that interesting that old fans have to buy this one as well, but perhaps I'm mistaken.

I would say, check it out for you.
