The framework is progressive rock, but Unitopia from down under is using so many different elements like jazz, world, classical, groove, rock and heavy metal that the frame is bent and out of shape.
To describe their style would be like explaining a Pablo Picasso painting; thing are being thrown at you left, right, up, down and from every corner of the room. And I am left with so many impressions that I feel overwhelmed, they are trying to fit too many styles under one hat.
Sure there are many cool and interesting moments on the albums, and they sure know how to handle their instruments and create good pieces of music, but it is hard to take it all in, and two discs is simply too much. The impressions just mount up and it is hard to pick out the pieces...
I tip my hat for this very courageous album, and suggest that you listen to this one, many, many times, if you like your rock extremely progressive and experimental...
