With 'The March' Unearth doesn't want to exceed the intensity of their latest record 'In the Eyes of Fire'. That record was heavy as a whale and was one wall of sound. Directly from the beginning "My Will Be Done" exposes what we can expect. The new songs have a lot more melody than what we customary get from Unearth. With their friend Adam Dutkiewitcz (guitarist in Killswitch Engage) behind the knobs they returned to the producer, who also did their first two records. The record has a heavy but open sound and especially the melodic guitar solos are first-class. Of course there are still the recognizable screams and growls from Trevor Phipps, but I must say that he does it with more control, less forced. Unearth has still the rough edges, just listen to "Grave of Opportunity" and you know what I mean. Sometimes we hear some In Flames in a song like "We are Not Anonymous", but there is nothing wrong with that. A track like "The March" is completely carried by a great bass-line and add something special to the track. Summary: Unearth has gotten a bit more melodic, but this is a step ahead for them. You know what they say; 'standstill is reverse gear'.
