Týr 's band concept and last album are based on a formula that has proven to be right many times; but add the fact that "Land" is Viking Metal at its very best, authentic and heartfelt, with a distinctive sound.

There is a strong feeling of western melancholy and romanticism on the tones, most of them adapted from traditional Faeroese anthems.
The drums, deeply organic, take you back in time, the guitars experiment on the fly, dissonant riffs meet more predictable melodies, and the whole is led by a vocal exoticism.
A haunting record.

Lyrically, you'll find an expected blend of Norse myths and tales of colonisation from the Viking times.
All the lyrics are translated into English, and the album comes as a double CD/DVD, the latter being of their Wacken gig in 2007, and presenting earlier material.

The pre-ordering and shipping through Napalm Records is by the way fast handled, as I got the record over two weeks before official release. A poster also comes along for the first few to order. I got away with one myself, yey!

By the way, watermarked records are deeply irritating; I almost gave up listening at first...really, is there so much of a point in that practice?
