"I have been a fan of This Haven since day one. There is something quite unique about the way they combine all their different influences, to come up with something fresh yet insanely heavy and catchy." These are the words of Dan Swanö. If Dan Swanö says something like that, there might be really something going on. It isn't easy to describe this bands style in two or three words, therefore you can take the above described style as a grip, but it isn't all you get.
Listening to the band I hear a lot of different styles, sometimes the band sounds like Opeth, especially when the heavy parts come in. The guitar parts have their roots in the progressive corner and the rough sounding guitars sometimes remind me of the stoner genre. This Haven builds in nice melodies and the combination of the raw style of singing with the clean parts gives the music a special touch. A band that enters my mind several times is Machinery, some riffs and as well as some other parts look-alot-like some Machinery parts.
For a debut this is not a bad effort. With Dan himself mixing and engineering this debut, the sound is of course first class. This might be worth listening to for people, who like some variety in styles and music, and don't run away for some great melodies.
