The days when The Haunted played a kind of Slayer-based fast thrash is definitely over. This record is a normal follow up to 'rEVOLVEr' and "The Dead Eye". The songs are a bit more direct, a little less progressive. The Haunted nowadays is more modern sounding, with a lot of hardcore, bluesy stoner-parts and some progressive touches. I don't know if the die-hard fans from their first years will be glad with the record, nevertheless there is enough nice music to hear.
This record has been recorded live in the studio, instead of all musicians playing their parts separately from the other musicians. The sound is more natural and direct. "Moronic Colussus" opens fast and rather heavy. The varied hardcore-like aggressive and expressive sound of vocalist Peter Dolving carries a lot of songs, he makes the songs better. "Pieces" is much bluesier, but with a song as "Crusher" and "Little Cages" there are also some heavy, fast tracks on the album as well. "Skuld" is a track I don't like, some very soft threatening part of music with a kind of whispering voice/vocals. Skip.
The Haunted has found their own sound, with which they can go everywhere in the future. They can go back to their roots, but also drift further away. If you liked 'Revolver', you can buy this album as well, if you want the music from their first two records, you better play them!
