Stormlord
Mare Nostrum
Rating
Style: Epic Black (Thrash)-metal
Release date: May 26th 2008

'Mare Nostrum' is Italian Stormlord's fourth offspring. Back in 1999 I bought their album 'Supreme Art of War'. At that time I was very pleased with it. The other two releases have passed my attention, but after hearing their new one, I will certainly be looking for them. Not that Stormlord is earth-shaking, but there is nothing wrong with their music.

Starting with a classic intro, the title song leaves no treasures of what to expect. Epic black (thrash) metal, with a lot of melody, the guitars a little in the background and the orchestral parts more in the front. A kind of Rhapsody with screaming vocals and black-metal parts in it. In some clean singing parts, Cristiano Borchi even sounds like Peter Steele!

If you are into epic melodic (black) metal and you don't need it so evil, this is worth listening to.
