Still waiting for the next Kiss album to come out? Is Alice Cooper one of your favourite artists and are you a sucker for Y & T? Silent Rage will bring joy. Although the songs never get as good as their influences. Starting in 1985,Silent Rage released their debut "Shattered Hearts" in 1987. They were so successful that Gene Simmons signed them to release their second album "Don't Touch Me There" in 1989. After touring and doing some side projects, they went on hiatus. In 2001 they reformed to release their third record "Still Alive" in 2002. Not expecting to hear from them anymore, they appear 6 years later with "Four Letter Word" (No not f**k, but love).

'You Could Be the One' opens rock-solid, the influences of Y & T and Kiss are instantly there. The vocals are sometimes in Dave Meniketti-style. The title-track has a similarity with some Def Leppard songs. In this song you hear the multi vocals, which is one of Silent Rage's trademarks. The beginning of "Man or Machine" strongly reminds me of Alice Cooper. The Bon Jovi singing style (I'm a Cowboy) occurs in the song "Close Your Eyes".

The best song in my opinion is "Sinister Man", a heavy and threatening song with some female vocals in it. "Hard Habit to Break" has saxophone in it; this gives a fresh breeze to this very commercial song. "Nobody knows" starts as a ballad, but changes in a dragging rock song. The band keeps their fastest song "Trouble" for last, and leaves behind a positive impression. But... There is nothing new and the songs are very basic, this counts also for the stereotype lyrics.

If you still have posters from Kiss, Y & T, Def Leppard and Alice Cooper hanging on the walls and you don't mind the lack of originality and the stereotype lyrics, go buy your copy.
