The Swedish band SHINETH was founded in 2002 and consist of only two members; Sebastian Roos (vocals, guitars, bass) and Anders Berlin (drums, keyboards).
For the past 8 days or so I have been listening to this, their second album entitled ‘Lost Magic Place’ numerous times hoping it will grow on me. However I’m left quite disappointed.
The music could be described as a mix of CHEAP TRICK, a bit of THE POODLES, and then throw in a few Power Pop bands and then you have it. Even after numerous listens, as written above, I’m disappointed. We get 12 songs but only 4 of them have left a mark in my brain. Album opener “Feel it Comin’”,the very catchy “Want it All”, the up-tempo Hard Rock/Metal track “Shineth”, and the excellent semi-ballad “and title-track “Lost Magic Place”... a track that reminds me of QUEEN.
But 4 memorable songs out of 12 are not enough in my book. But if you’re into the above mentioned bands or AOR/Melodic Rock music in general you should at least check this Swedish band out.
