The Greek epic doom metal band REFLECTION has just launched their brand new album ‘When Shadows Fall’, but I’m not sure that they will conquer the world with it.
They have labelled themselves as a Hellenic Epic/Doom Metal band and that could very well be the right description. Just mix a band like CANDLEMASS with an Epic Metal band and then throw in some DIO... and then you have a pretty good idea of their sound and style... I think.
The songs are slow/mid-tempo and ‘When Shadows Fall’ certainly has it moments but unfortunately REFLECTION doesn’t bring much variation within the songs themselves. At first listen you’ll be sure that they are playing the same song over and over again. ‘When Shadows Fall’ wins a little with every spin but it fails to convince me. It’s too repetitive.
Mediocre at best!
