Pitiful Reign
Visual Violence
Rating
Style: Thrash Metal
Release date: September 30th 2008

With nice recognizable artwork of specialist Ed Repka, Pitiful Reign tries to tell us what kind of style they play. The band hails from the UK, but musically they play in the region of the Bay-Area combo's. Responsible for the production are Steve DiGiorgio (Sadus) and Juan Urteaga (Vile).

With their music they range on the side of Municipal Waste, Dekapitator and Evile; the so called NWOTM. Fans of Forbidden, Testament, Exodus, Overkill, Destruction and Tankard will not be disappointed with 'Visual Violence'. The production is first class and listening to some bass parts ("Rapid Deployment"), we recognize the hand of Steve D. The vocals of Josh are in perfect Bay-Area style, a kind of combination of the Forbidden and Exodus vocalists. Add some harmonic and melodic Testament guitar parts to the music ("Fatality") and you know what you get.

An album with respectable songs, but no highlights either. A job well done, but nothing new.
