Open the Skies describe their music as "melodic, post-hardcore screamo". I have to agree with that. Singer Josh McKeown has the growling, screaming hardcore vocals, but also sings a lot of clean parts. The clean part I find is his weakest, sometimes he sounds a little too sweet and sometimes a bit nasal.

Musically the band knows what they do. You can compare them a little with bands like Underoath and Many Things Untold. I like the heavy parts the most. The one thing that can be the pitfall for this band is that they perhaps have too many clean parts and that it might get a little boring after 10 songs. But maybe I'm just a pain in the neck now.

Listen to their Myspace-site and perhaps you come to the conclusion that this is what you have been waiting for. For me it is not a bad record, but it doesn't make me excited either. Check them out and judge yourself!
