NQG hails from the U.K. This five-piece releases their debut-album after building up a rather good reputation with their live shows. The first thing that shows off is the sound; it is a dirty, somewhat Swedish Gothenburg kind of sound, with hardcore rhythm and aggressive, sometimes almost grunting vocals.
The drums are very tight and in your face. I find it generally more (death/thrash) metal than core. What I miss is that the whole record has not yet the ability to stay interesting. After the fifth song, I can't keep the attention. All songs are in rather fast tempo and look- a like a lot. If the band can change that, the next record might be more interesting.
Not a bad effort, but it gets a little boring after a few songs. Nevertheless you metalcore fans can check it out and be your own judge; maybe you think I talk rubbish.
