When I think of Ireland, I think of a cosy Irish pub, with joyful music in the background and some beers on the bar. However these Irish guys demonstrate that it is possible to make some very sad and painful sounding doom metal there as well. In just 5 tracks with a playing time over 55 minutes, they demonstrate that they are made of the right stuff.
The first song "The Sickness" opens in a kind of My Dying Bride style, singer Darren gives the music the right feeling with his desperate grunting. The switch between the grunting vocals and the clean singing of guitar player Frank makes the songs more attractive. His clean vocals sometimes make me think of Candlemass. Throughout all the songs you can feel the pain and the thrilling emotional melodies, combined with the doomy guitar riffs and the hypnotising bass-lines it creates the exact mood a doom record needs.
I think it wouldn't surprise anyone that the lyrics aren't about happiness. Throughout the songs they tell you a story about the slow deconstruction of the body and mind with time. Don't tell you haven't been warned...
This record is for those who are already doomed,............and be Doomed!
