Is this the
album die-hard fans has been waiting for for the past nineteen years, and has it
been fruitful to have the original line-up back together, are some of the
concerns I know many fans have been wondering about with this new Mötley Crüe
album.
And this is
certainly their best album since 'Dr. Feelgood' and the band does sound
recharged and revitalized on 'The Saints of Los Angeles'. Mötley Crüe is
out to prove to the world that they haven't forgotten how to create magic, and
they do show most of the younger bands that they still form a band to reckoned
with... at least within the small niche called sleaze metal.
Musically we
are in well tested territory, coming across as a mix between 'Dr. Feelgood' and
'New Tattoo' (from 2000), delivering a fine selection of dirty and sleazy rock
'n' roll songs that takes one back to the hey-days of Mötley Crüe.
Living out
the bad boy’s image is reflected in the songs, and the boys seem to have a lot
of fun and enjoy the lifestyle they have been a big part of for good and for
bad... Sure the lyrics are filled with clichés, I wouldn't want it any other
way, and
Mötley Crüe
has never been a technical powerhouse, but within their limitations they know
how to handle themselves and have fun.
'The Saints
of Los Angeles' is a fun loving, dirty rock 'n' roll album that rocks hard in
every corner, and I salute them for staying true to their roots and believing in
their own strengths.
