Once upon a time I went to a Fear Factory gig in Aarhus not far from where I live. I always liked Fear Factory but must also acknowledge that they’ve known better days.
This particular evening in 2006, however, was a living proof that newer and younger forces were at hand and ready to blast the cybermetal kings off stage. And the Baltimoreans from Misery Index were almost ready. Their energy was breathtaking, their power astonishing. What was missing at the time was really interesting song material – as much as they burst through the boundaries, their songs weren’t interesting enough.
This is not the case with their new release, ‘Traitors’. 11 tracks of brutal, rocking deathgrind, a blast of an album, excellent production, lots of variation.
It’s really difficult to single out one or two tracks, because the quality is equally high on all 11 tracks. So I won’t.
What I’m saying is: Just listen to the damned album – you won’t regret it! ‘nuff said!
