Well... I certainly have mixed feelings about this album from MARUTA called ‘In Narcosis’. The band consists of 3 guys playing grindcore metal or you could prefer to call it powerviolence if you like, with fast yet quite brutal riffs.

The very first time I threw ‘In Narcosis’ in my very exhausted CD-player I didn’t like it at all, mostly because of the vocals. I must admit that it gets a bit boring in the long run to listen to a guy shifting between growls and aggressive shrieks for 32 minutes. But well of course I gave this release (the bands debut full length) another chance and after a few spins I began to feel different about it. Suddenly I noticed a few riffs that I liked and the CD stayed in my player for the next few days. ‘In Narcosis’ deserves a listen because it certainly has its moments, but even though I’m sure that this album will score a fair amount of points with genre fans I’m not fully convinced.
