Magica is a Romanian female-fronted symphonic gothic metal band. They have influences in their music from Nightwish and Within Temptation. Ana Mladinovici is a good singer, but never gets to the same level as Tara (ex-Nightwish) or Sharon (Within Temptation).

That, paired with a below average effort in the song writing department doesn't make the band shoot straight to the top of the bill. There are worse bands in the same genre, but Magica will not protrude either. The sound is also not so impressive; I miss the power and the bombast. In most of the songs we hear fantastic English voice-overs with a German accent. This fucks up most of the songs, but especially the instrumental track 'Chitaroptera'; just when the flute comes in, the voice-over takes over.

How on earth do the record companies expect us to do objective and deliver reasonable reviews when voice-overs take over the attention of the listener and put the interesting parts away?
