Jorn / Triosphere (both NOR) - Porsgrunn, Norway
Date:  September 13th 2008

Venue: Herøyahuset

This title was actually misleading as I only got to see Triosphere. Anyway, what a nice surprise to find out that they were scheduled to play in Porsgrunn the day I was travelling there!
The concert's set in an old theatre and gym room. Actually I'm not even sure it is any of these, but it has a scene at least and it seems like a meeting spot for the people of Porsgrunn with some kind of pub in it too.
It is Norselander that stands behind the arrangement. Norselander (see web address at the bottom) has been driven for the past 5-7 years by Roland Hasseleid and a couple of mates, all heavy metallers at heart; first started as a hobby, the club has now the bigger ambition to be the gathering hard-rocking spot for the whole of Southern Norway (Grenland-Oslo-Agder). Judging on the mood at the pub, and how far some people have come from tonight, it seems like the guys are going to make of their hometown Porsgrunn Rock City. Good luck to you, guys!

Triosphere

...is still a newcomer without really ever being it. Ida (vox, bass) and Ørjan (drums) have a lifelong past and fame as musicians and were basically the core of their native Harstad's music scene before they moved to Trondheim and put all they could at stake to run the Triosphere. Marcus Silver (guitars) is no novice either, being a former member of Griffin.
In its four years of existence, the band has already toured with W.A.S.P., Dio, Kotipelto...
As Norwegian bands mostly have the advantage above others when it comes to black-metal, they have, as a heavy metal band, international competition with the world's most technical musicians and showmen and women.
Well, once again, I have to say that Triosphere more than owned the stage!

Tonight's show is strong and far beyond driven and their completely new approach of heavy metal with after-tastes of old school thrash and speed metal can be felt tonight too. The band is very excited and doesn't seemingly let the guitar sound trouble put them out. The sound is generally raw and dry, almost like on the band's demo "Deadly Decadence" (2005), and I appreciate its colour, if it only could have been stable during the whole show.
The performance is as always flawless and exciting. Moreover, Ida's voice has grown again...as if it was thinkable!

I'm not as blown away as usually, but drive home with a feeling of entire satisfaction. I strongly recommend every metal person around to check out and follow these ones!
