Krisiun
Southern Storms
Rating
Style: Technical Death Metal
Release date: July 21st 2008

Over the past years, Krisiun have earned a legendary worldwide reputation due to their massive touring activity, and the band has been highly praised since their beginnings already 18 years ago.

It could have been difficult to overdo their 2006's release AssassiNation, but the new Southern Storms seems to confer their distinctive approach to death metal of the more technical kind. Ferocious high-speed blasting, razor-sharp ripping, fast-tapping, a good sound and some very bangable riffs: they are for sure masters of the genre. The voice, however, gets too monotonous, and they lack the passion of Sepultura when covering Refuse/Resist.

Personally, I think this gets a bit boring after a while, but that doesn't prevent this record from being a solid piece of metal.
