Recycling is
good for the environment, so is recycling old Helloween tunes a good
environmental move? Michael Kiske has re-recorded and re-arranged ten Helloween
songs from the period he spent in the band. All ten songs were originally
written by him, so all he has done is that he has taken a different look at the
songs and have put them in a new sonic environment.
Chronologic
the songs are: "A Little Time" (Keepers, Pt. 1), "You Always Walk Alone" & "We
Got the Right" (Keepers, Pt. 2), "Kids of the Century", "Going Home" & "Your
Turn" (Pink Bubles), "When the Sinner", "In the Night", "I Believe" and
"Longing" (Chameleon) as well as the brand new track: "Different Ways".
I like the
new versions of the songs, and some of the less successful songs have been given
a new life and sound fresh. The all acoustic approach surely benefits the songs
and I don't think Michael Kiske needs to prove to anyone that he is a great
vocalist and songwriter any more.
A well done
almost singer-songwriter album from one of my favourite vocalists and an album that
proves that there is still room for Michael Kiske in the metal circles.
