Song writer, producer and bass player Jonas Reingold has taken some time off from The Flower Kings and The Tangent to make a very personal and emotional album with his side-project - Karmakanic. The nucleus features his fellow The Tangent partners Krister Jonsson (Guitars) and Zoltan Csörsz (Drums), as well as Göran Edman (Vocals), Lalle Larsson (Keyboards) and a few guests drops in as well (Andy Tillison, Tomas Bodin, Lelo Nika and Theo Travis).
'Who's the Boss in the Factory?' is a compositionally and technically accomplished masterpiece with a perfectly balanced sound done by Jonas Reingold himself. It all begins with his son singing the opening verse and ends with a two part homage to his parents, who he sadly lost last year in a tragic car accident just before Christmas.
Call it retro or old-school progressive rock, we all know that Jonas' roots lays way back in the 70's, and this is also where everything on this album starts and ends; pure, honest and emotional progressive rock, which covers a wide stylistic range. But always solid founded in sound and style of the 70's.
In my humble opinion the best album from any member of the Flower Kings camp in a very long time, and one that took time to fully sink in with me, but once you've discovered the depth and diversity of the six songs you will find this to be a wonderful and emotional journey, one I suggest you'd take if you are into the Swedish retro progressive rock scene.
