Jam Pain Society
Black Light Messiah
Rating
Style: Industrial Hard Rock
Release date: July 18th 2008

The brew brawn together by Jam Pain Society is as strange as their name; hard rock, metal, pop, funk and everything has been peppered with a solid portion of various industrial sounds. Hope goes hand in hand with pure rage and anger in a very cold world of despair.

Extremities clash, sounds collide and the result is a decent collection of songs with too few real highlights, and too many mediocre and meaningless songs. But there is some light at the end of the tunnel; female vocalist Leah Kirby delivers a very fine performance on the album, the guitar work is good also, and they are all skilful musicians.

They do try too hard to mix too many styles into a mould that doesn't fit. The talent and the skills are there, but I feel they need to focus on their strengths more. 'Black Light Messiah' is not half bad, it's just like it never kicks fully into gear...

Recommended songs: 'Wasted', 'You Made Me', 'Choose Your Machine' & 'Hero'.
