Ice Vinland hails from Quebec City, the 5-piece band play progressive metal with a lot of fast power metal parts. The songs are rather long. I think that is, together with the vocals of Damian Leif, the biggest pitfall for the band. Damian, who has the outfit of a Viking sings
very high
all the time. That doesn't need to be a problem, but he is sometimes false too.
All members handle their instruments well, but after a while some of the songs get a little boring. That is because they are too long, and then I loose attention. For a self-release, the production is acceptable. I think that the band has a future. Perhaps if they have to shorten the songs a little, or write songs that keep me interested for the whole playing time. The high vocals can also be improved and with a better production the next one can be a major one.
With a label behind them, the future of this band could be bright. At least hear them out on Myspace, because they have potential.
