Icarus Witch

Style: NWOBHM

Together with Cruz Del Sur's latest releases they also put this CD of Icarus Witch. Reading the name I had to think immediately of Iron Maiden's song "Flight of Icarus". I don't know if part of their name has taken from that song, but their music certainly has links with Iron Maiden.

The galloping Maiden-like song "Out for Blood" leaves no questions asked; it's Iron Maiden all over. Matthew Bizilia has a voice, which is a mixture between Bruce Dickinson, Lizzy Borden and John Arch with a raw edge. Their music has a big NWOBHM stamp on it. Actually you have the idea listening to a new record of one of the NWOBHM bands back in the 80's, but with a better production. Are the metal fans waiting for this??

I don't know, but I am enjoying it very much. So if you are fond of bands like Iron Maiden, Saxon, Lizzy Borden and maybe even Wolf, check it out. And yes, "Mirror Mirror" is a Def Leppard cover with Joe Lynn Turner on vocals.
