This is Hollenthon's third record, the earlier ones were released in 1999 and 2001. In the time between, Martin Schirenc joined again the newly reformed Pungent Stench. Still writing stuff for Hollenthon, he put that in the fridge for the time being. After Pungent Stench split up again, Schirenc took the opportunity to choose a permanent line-up, recruiting Gregor Marboe, who also delivered "pungent" bass lines since 2006. Martin Arzberger (guitars) and Mike Gröger (drums) complete the pack.
If you like their first two records; 'Domus Mundi' and 'With Vilest of Worms to Dwell', you will appreciate the new one too. You can still expect heavy music combined with orchestral and choir parts, with low growling and sometimes high female vocals done by Elena Schirenc.
For me however, the biggest surprise is a little gone. The first record was overwhelming and the second one was not inferior to the first. This one is just a follow-up record and not the expected step ahead. I miss the surprises and the specialities that the first two had. But... it is not a bad record, on the contrary. Hollenthon fans and metal fans, who want to hear something different, take your chance. The CD is also available as a limited edition digipack including bonus track & Videoclip!
