Helstar is back with a new record after 13 years! O.k. James Rivera made records with Distant Thunder and Destiny's End, but now he decides to do it under the flag of Helstar again. Believe me, this is their best record in the last 13 years (just joking). O.k. cut the crap and get serious.
The style of songs go back to their early years, but with a better produced and with heavier guitar riffs. However the style is definitely U.S. (Helstar) power metal. With an intro that could be on a King Diamond record, the first song starts like a fast machine. Immediately you hear the heavy and tight production and the galloping guitars. "The Plague Called Man" follows in the same fast and heavy tempo. James leaves no questions asked; he is back with a bang.
As always James voice is a you love it or hate it question, I have always been a fan of his high screams and timbre. I can't imagine Helstar without it. After hearing the record 10 times I cannot say there is a weak song on the album. As a matter of fact, I think we must conclude that they are back and ready to let the world know who are the kings of U.S. metal.
The older metal fans that have been Helstar fans in the eighties can blindly pick this album up, for young metal fans who want to hear how U.S. metal should be played, check it out too.
Best songs: play them all!
