Cradle of Filth has a sibling in Denmark. This bastard child of rock and evil is called Fairytale Abuse and will release its second album in a few days.

For those who adore Dani Filth and his cohorts, ‘Perversions of Angel VI’ is well-worth a listen. Come to think of it, there could be a hint of Bal-Sagoth in there as well, and that is definitely not a bad thing.

The Danes attack black metal with the same eagerness to blend in other styles of metal – which black metal usually has to do if it wants to survive in my disc player for more than ten minutes. The compositions on the album are more than decent and equally filled with groove and full-on black metal assaults, but that said, they will represent no huge surprises for regular listeners to the before mentioned bands.

Jan Borsing’s production suits the music well indeed. There is a lot of atmosphere in the eleven tunes, partly thanks to the successful mix of the keyboards into the rest of the soundscape. Potent and competent release from the Danes, no doubt.

Nice one! Try it out in your dark and dank basement on a full moon lit night.
