Dokken
Lightning Strikes Again
Rating
Style: Melodic Metal
Release date: April 11th 2008

Dokken has always been a synonym for first class melodic metal with an outstanding guitarist, and "Lightning Strikes Again" is just another perfect example of exactly that. Jon Levin does a fantastic job on the entire album, and his style is so close to the master George Lynch that he could easily pass as his kid brother.

It is always easy to pick Don Dokken out in a crowd, his vocal style is second to none, and his songs are easily recognisable. "Lightning Strikes Again" is stylistically placing itself somewhere in the neighbourhood of "Back for the Attack" and the latest Dokken album "Hell to Pay", with all the trademarks of the early days combined with the sound of today.

The album never reaches the same high level as classic Dokken albums like "Erase the Slate", "Under Lock and Key" or "Back for the Attack", but it is nevertheless still a very solid piece of craftsmanship from one the longest serving members of the trade.
