Lost to the Living
Rating
Style: Melodic Doom / Death ´Metal

North Carolina's melodic death-doom band comes with their 3rd full-length. "Dismantling Devotion" their second was given a lot of credit by the press. This will be not different this time. DD is not a doom band in Winter or Evoken style, but can be compared with My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Opeth and old Anathema, but then with a little more tempo.

In 'Woke up Lost' and 'Last Alone' vocalist O' Rourke even comes with clean vocals and does a good job there. Combined with serene accoustic guitars the songs are nice restpoints between the heavy doomy songs. Sometimes there is also quite some tempo, therefore deathmetal fans can also take a listen.

The band writes very mature songs, with the sad guitar-lines that are generally used in this genre. Summary: a well written album, food for doom/death fans who are in for some melody.
