First my compliments to the record company for not adding voice-overs to the promo this time. Thanks, it is a pleasure to listen to.

Dawn of Winter was established in 1990 and have been producing lots of demo's and EP's thru the years. However 'The Peaceful Dead' is only their second full-length album. First song "The Music of Despair" leaves no questions asked; this is a true ode to their heroes from Candlemass, Saint Vitus and Black Sabbath - they have written a real doom-anthem.

The melodic songs with slow heavy riffs in combination with the kind of high opera-like singing of Sacred Steel's Gerrit P. Mutz is a must for this genre, of course they lack any kind of originality, and are borderline Candlemass clones at time, but they do it with style and dedication.

This is a nice doom album for all you sad, gloomy, melancholy and depressed doom fans, and it will help you to get through the next months.

Doom is the only true metal!
