After 3 great Cryonic Temple albums; ’Chapter 1’ (2002), ’Blood, Guts & Glory’ (2003) and

‘In Thy Power’ (2005) it’s time for the Swedes 4th album. ‘Immortal’ is the title and fans of the band, power metal fans, or heavy metal fans in general are in for a treat here.

The band has gone through a few line-up changes, but don’t worry... they haven’t changed that much when it comes to their music. The catchiness has always been present in the Swedes music, but now there’s an even better balance between catchiness and heaviness. The guitars are a bit crunchier and thrashier than on their earlier albums, but the catchy choruses are still present. A fine balance that could catapult Cryonic Temple into the premier league of power metal.

Up-tempo headbangers such as; “Standing tall”, Fear of the Rage” and “Train of Destruction” will please every fan of this band, I’m sure. And heavier songs like; album opener and title-track, “Immortal”, “Beg Me” and “Freedom Calling” adds a good set of variety without making the compositions inaccessible. Cryonic Temple is on the right path here with ‘Immortal’ and I’m already curious to hear more from them.

I’m not sure who’s responsible for the production but it’s excellent as well, I dare to say almost

flawless.

Thumbs up.
