California's Coerced into Battle is one of the bands that combine elements of thrash, hardcore and Swedish death in their music. They create a style, which is played by a lot of other bands; the raging at times down-tuned riffs with the screaming and growling vocals brought in the "I am so very pissed off"-style (Chimaira, Devildriver, etc.).

The album isn't bad, they bring it with dedication, but there is nothing new and special about it either. Between all the aggressive pissed off songs, the acoustic instrumental "The Addictions Dirge Pt. 1." is a welcome resting point. Listening to Coerced into Battle, I constantly think; where did I hear this before. Which makes the record very recognizable, but I don't think I will listen too it often in the future.

Coerced into Battle has the intensions and the capacity, but is at the moment too average. Although I must confess that a track like "Buried in Desolation" is excellent.
